LindaRD Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist Counsels many Clients in the Sacramento Area

by

Linda, Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist is seeing many clients from the Sacramento area. Linda, Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist enjoyed working with Paul a resident of Sacramento who was diagnosed with Diabetes. He found Linda, Registered Dietitian/Nutrtionist on-line by googling nutritionists in Sacramento.

Linda, Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist evaluated Paul’s eating habits by having him fill out an intake questionnaire. She could see that he was not eating enough fiber and protein for his meals. For breakfast he would always have toast with butter and fruit, for lunch he would have a sandwich with chips and for dinner he often had pasta, bread and a salad. He was drinking lots of juices and sodas to keep what he called his “energy up”. He was constantly feeling tired and never felt that he wanted to exercise. In addition, Paul listed for me his favorite restaurants in Sacramento that he would often frequent with his wife. His doctor was not giving him any guidance and he knew he needed to consult with a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist.

Paul works as a teacher in Sacramento and often will take lunch to work. On the phone I educated Paul on how to read food labels for protein, fiber, sugar and fat which are most important for his diabetes. He had a very poor understanding about the basic food groups and was not sure how to create healthy meals. He only shops at Safeway in Sacramento and I suggested that he checkout Trader Joe’s which there are many in the Sacramento
area. I listed for him the best meals and snacks based on his favorite foods. He now understands that he needs to increase the meat on his sandwich and have a source of protein at breakfast as well as in the afternoon.

Paul tells me that in Sacramento there are terrific walking paths that he would like to try when he feels better. I promised him that after eating better and taking up my suggestions he will enjoy his life in Sacramento more.

We are having follow-up sessions each week via phone and e-mail from Sacramento. We will continue this plan until Paul’s blood sugars are in the normal range. Paul said that he will tell his doctor to send his patients with Diabetes to a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist. He is so thrilled with the knowledge that he has received and believes it will change his life.
