Recent researches show that weight loss and weight gain are greatly affected by one thing we always neglect to do – sleep. Studies show that in the US alone, two thirds of the population say they do not sleep well for at least three nights in a week. 33% of adults confirm that they regularly get less than 6.5 hours of sleep and 63% is estimated to get less than 8 hours. The fact that some experts consider these figures as answers to the question of why Americans are becoming obese, many of us jump to what we now call as “the sleep diet”.

If you’re one of the many who diet-ed, lost weight, and gained it all back again, I think you’ll agree that the hardest part in this ordeal is not losing weight but keeping it off. Most of us have the mentality of restricting or depriving ourselves with the food we like to eat when we’re on a diet. By doing so, we only increase our temptation to binge, and when we give in to our cravings, we feel defeated and think that all the efforts we gave were for nothing. Losing weight rapidly is unhealthy and most of the time short-lived. Research have shown that people who lose weight slowly by eating less and exercising more tend to keep the weight off.

Stop munching that chocolate and look at this.
Gone are the days when children in the United States eat fresh apples and drink milk for snacks. Blame it on fast food advertising, on parents giving their children more bucks than needed or even just on different junk temptations around. Children would opt to grab a bucketful of fries and a cup of ice cream with caramel on top than eating vegetables and especially some green vegetables which they often think as inedible.
